Covering a distance of around 16 miles (25 kms) the team joined around 25 other walkers for the event. The walk was sponsored to raise funds for the Trust and took place in Boxhill, Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill. The team raised \u00a3470 in sponsorship plus Eiger covered the participation fees. Fortunately, it was a beautiful sunny day and the views from the hilltops over the surrounding Surrey landscape were fantastic.<\/p><p>We look forward to participating next year!<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4030 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eigertrading.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SWF-1-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4031 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eigertrading.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SWF-2-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p><p><strong>Update February 2026<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><p>A team of four Eiger staff members joined around fifteen other volunteers and Surrey Wildlife Trust employees, at a nearby farm on Thursday 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0February, to lay down a new hedgerow. The laying of new hedgerows is part of the SWT initiative to join up wild spaces. In this case it was two ancient woodlands separated by a farmer\u2019s field used for grazing sheep and cattle. The hedgerow, once established, will provide both a safe passage for small mammals and will be used for habitation. The new hedgerow will be around 200 yards long and took most of the day to plant using small single sprigs of various hedging plants.<\/p><p>Eiger was pleased to participate in this project and will be looking for more opportunities to volunteer in the near future.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3989 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eigertrading.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/SWT-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3990 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eigertrading.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/SWT-2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3991 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eigertrading.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/SWT-3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p><p><strong>Update October 2025<\/strong><\/p><\/div><p>Our Chairman and a JCEO joined a Surrey Wildlife Trust corporate event on the 15<sup>th<\/sup> October to better understand how our environment is being improved through the work of the Trust.<\/p><p>Following the event the Trust issued their 2025 Impact Report, and we are pleased to add the link here so that you can all see the important work taking place.<\/p><p>Eiger, as corporate members, are pleased to continue supporting their work.<\/p><p><iframe title=\"Surrey Wildlife Trust Impact Report 2024\/25\" src=\"https:\/\/e.issuu.com\/embed.html?u=surreywt&d=surrey_wildlife_trust_impact_report_2024_25\" style=\"border:none; width: 800px; height: 613px;\" allow=\"clipboard-write,allow-top-navigation,allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation,allow-downloads,allow-scripts,allow-same-origin,allow-popups,allow-modals,allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox,allow-forms\"  allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p><div class=\"p-rich_text_section\"><p><b><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Update January 2025<\/span><\/b><\/p><p>We have reviewed our carbon footprint at the start of 2025 and again have seen a reduction. For the whole of 2024 the number was 152 tonnes. Our main cause of carbon emissions was the use of business travel during the year. We strive to reduce travel but servicing clients, who are mainly in the Middle East and Far East, necessitates travel to ensure we can clearly understand their needs and build close relationships with their staff. Travel accounts for over 96% of Scope 3 emissions whilst Heat and Electricity for our UK office show a 50\/50 split under Scope2.<\/p><p>We continue to offset our carbon emissions and be carbon neutral by supporting the Surrey Wildlife Trust and have maintained our Corporate Membership. We have chosen this method of offset as it benefits the local environment where our office is based.<\/p><p><strong>Update May 2024<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"yellow\">Due mainly to increased travel by staff to meet with clients in the Middle East and Malaysia as we continue to develop our business, the C0<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0emissions calculation rose in the period from 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0April 2023 to 31 March 2024 to 248 tonnes.<\/span>\u00a0<span data-ogsc=\"black\" data-ogsb=\"yellow\">We have continued with our membership of the Surrey Wildlife Trust and we intend to be joining in more outside activities in the autumn, once the summer growth season has finished. The SWT offer Corporate Members a number of opportunities to assist in the stewardship of the surrey countryside and we intend to participate by way of staff volunteering their time. By helping to improve the natural environment through the Surrey Wildlife Trust activities we are able to offset the carbon emissions that we are unable to reduce in other ways.<\/span><\/p><p><strong>Update February 2024<\/strong><\/p><p>We are pleased to announce that over the course of the last 12 months, the actions we have taken to reduce our carbon footprint have been successful.\u00a0 The\u00a0CO2 emissions covering the period April 2022 to March 2023\u00a0have been recalculated, and the new number\u00a0has reduced to\u00a0160 tonnes per annum. This decrease has come about from reduced air travel over the period, and occupying a smaller office space than in the previous year. We continue to support the Surrey Wildlife Trust and staff took part in a Wild Work Day in January 2024. There is more on this in our News Section on the website. Another day is planned later in the year.<\/p><p>In 2022 the company took the decision to measure its C02 emissions through the use of office space &amp; electricity, travel and purchased goods and services. Our estimate came out at 270 tonnes per annum. We continuously look for ways to cut our C02 emissions &#8211; as well as monitoring what we do produce as a company. We have optimized our office space and made more efficient use of our travel for overseas marketing, and have started to examine other methods of reducing our C02 emissions. The company took the decision that it did not want to simply pay into a carbon offset scheme, such as tree planting, but rather we wanted to look at ways to improve our local environment through volunteer work by staff. In this way we will be able to contribute in a practical way and benefit the community living in the vicinity of the office.We have joined the Surrey Wildlife Trust as a Gold Business Supporter. Aside from contributing to their funding, joining the Trust also allows us to join in with activities throughout the year, and to arrange volunteer days where staff can get their hands dirty out in the fields of Surrey.We are arranging to take part in Wild Work Days organised by the Surrey Wildlife Trust, the first of which is in January 2024. Information on the activities of this day, and future events will be posted below.
